On February 28, 2019 at The business – educational center of Belgrade Metropolitan University, Creativity Center was opened. Creativity Center at BMU is one of the six creative centers opened in Serbia during the project „Institutional framework for development of the third mission of universities in Serbia“ conducted under the Erasmus + program of the European Union.
The opening ceremony of the Creative Center was attended by eminent education experts, state secretary of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development, representatives of the leading companies from Niš, representatives from the University of Brighton, students from Belgrade and Nis, employees, media representatives and many others.
After the opening ceremony, students had a "Creative Problem Solving" workshop with guest lecturers at the University of Brighton and Professor Dr. Richard Morris. The goals of the workshops were:
- developing creative thinking outside of everyday life,
- presenting and applying methods and techniques for creative thinking,
- as well as creative expression through individual and group work.
Opening of the Creative Center of Metropolitan University is recognized as a crucial collaboration between the economy sector and universities, as well as the mission of Metropolitan University, which consists of three parts - social engagement, technology transfer and continuing education. Also, the The business – educational center of university in Niš has a great importance in improving the education of the city of Niš and developing creativity, innovation and entrepreneurial ventures among fellow citizens, as well as cooperation with the business sector.
